Contract Negotiations

Letters of Support

Canadian Labour Congress
2841 Riverside Drive,
Ottawa, Ontario
KIV 8X7

November 18,2002

Mr. Patrick Riley
ILA Local 273
20 Church Ave.
Saint John, NB, E2M 4P4

Dear Brother Pat,

I was very concerned to hear that your negotiations are running into such a difficult period, particularly with the Irving Company. It appears this is the year that employers are attacking a very important group of workers in Canada, the United States and around the world.

Dockworkers play an incredibly important role in Canada ensuring the flow of goods in and out of the country.

I can assure you on behalf of the Officers and Staff and the 2.5 million workers in our affiliates, that the Canadian Labour Congress will do all that we can to assist you in getting a fair and equitable settlement.

In Solidarity,

Kenneth V. Georgetti
President
