Letters of Support

NEW BRUNSWICK FEDERATION OF LABOUR

Pat Riley
Secretary-Treasurer/Business Agent
ILA Local 273
Saint John, N.B. E2M 4P4

Dear Brother Riley,

On behalf of the 31,000 members of the New Brunswick Federation of Labour, I would like to express our solidarity in the process of the tough negotiations that ILA Local 273 is now involved with the Irving Company. I am impressed, but not surprised, by all the support and solidarity already expressed to you , nationally and internationally. Globalization calls for solidarity locally and worldwide, and you have this solidarity. You are not isolated.

We know you will be able to stay strong on the working conditions and wages. We cannot go backwards anymore. Canada needs dockworkers ensuring the flow of goods in and out of the country. You can count on our support totally, and we are ready to help as much as we can to make sure that you get a fair and equitable settlement. ILA Local 273, as one of the first and oldest unions in New Brunswick and Canada, has proven its militancy, and we are proud of you.

In Solidarity,

Blair Doucet
President
